Why I Am Not An Atheist

Well, being an atheist is a bit trendy now days. Lots of celebs joining in to promote it.

Before you jump on this swanky bandwagon, you might want to ask a few questions. Maybe some like these.

Is this magical, pixie dust, fairly tale explosion theory the best explanation atheists can give for the universe?

Tell me again how 8+ billion years ago a small particle exploded for no apparent reason and created the building blocks for the world. We don’t know what the particle was. We don’t know where it came from. And we have no idea why it decided to blow up one day. So one day this little piece of dust decided, “OK, this is the day we get this show on the road. We’re going kaboom!” What a con job.

If the existence of God is so simpleminded why did so many brilliant people have faith in God?

einstein not an atheist

You may have heard of Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Albert Einstein and a few more. They believed that the universe had been designed by a Designer. While Einstein did not believe in a personal God, he was far from being an atheist. While the church at that time had its head in the sand, these scientists believed somebody was behind this world’s sophisticated design. And world-renowned artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Michael Angelo were brilliant artists who didn’t seem to mind expressing belief in God. Were all of these people stupid? Delusional?

Where are the great atheist humanitarian institutions?

Where are the atheist hospitals? Orphanages? Food pantries? If atheists all fell flat in the forest would anyone miss them? We would not miss their grand humanitarian institutions. There aren’t any. Where are the Darwin Memorial Hospitals? Where is the Madeline Murray O’Hare orphanage? Nothing.

What’s up with dark matter?

I watched on TV as astronomer after astronomer tried to explain what was holding the universe together. It was fascinating to watch them say that an “invisible force” (their words) holds the universe together and makes it all work. They called it “dark matter.” Yet said they had no idea what that force could be but it is something invisible, powerful and beyond our world. They said they were perplexed, completely stumped. I have an idea.

Why are oppressive governments like China, Russia, Cuba and North Korea freaked out about the existence of God?

Dictators always ban religion except for a dumbed-down, state-controlled church. Totalitarian governments love atheists. If the existence of God is fiction, then why are they so threatened by God? They don’t attack Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy. What is it about God that freaks them out? If the existence of God is nothing but fiction, then they shouldn’t be threatened. Atheism is consistently the mandate of oppressive government.

How did people get so far ahead of the rest of the animal kingdom?

If all life started at the same moment from the big kaboom, how did people become the over-achievers of the universe? Who/what created the gap between people and animals? Why are we the only ones advancing civilization on this planet? Beavers are still building dams from sticks and mud. Dogs are still licking their backsides. Monkeys and their opposing thumbs haven’t built/discovered/invented anything worthwhile. Ever. Why? Could it be because God created us and set us apart to be different from animals? Modern atheism was started by some fool who couldn’t tell the difference between people and animals.

Why are atheists often nasty?

Most atheists do not seem happy or content. I never think to myself, “Oh, I want to be like that!” And they constantly rant about the God they DON’T believe in. Always bringing up God. I find that odd. They seem to be threatened by the idea of God, freaked out by the mere concept. Just watch some of the comments under this blog unfold. Anyway, I like having a reason for living with a light at the end of the tunnel.

Why the dumbed down depiction of God?

Atheists rarely have an honest discussion about God. Maybe He is a bit more complex than the “man in the sky” depiction they so easily write off. Appearing less than secure in their unbelief, atheists seem to lack the ability to have a serious discussion about God.

While down through the years, organized religion has time and again managed to wreck much of what it touches, atheists are incapable of separating God’s existence and man’s stupidity. Put simply, God is not responsible, nor does His existence rest, on what people do.

Just consider. Maybe there is a God after all. Maybe His existence is not as far fetched as some of the theories trying to discount Him.  Maybe He loves you more than you understand.

Thanks for reading this.
